Meet Brett McMullen,
founder & sole practitioner
Brett McMullen started Cumbria Scalp Clinic after seeing first-hand the confidence that scalp micropigmentation gives people. He trained at the North West Scalp Clinic in Bolton and set up Cumbria's own dedicated SMP clinic to bring that same quality of treatment closer to home.
Brett is the sole practitioner: every client gets his full personal attention from the first consultation through to the final session. The clinic is based in Workington, at a dedicated treatment room, and serves clients across Cumbria including Carlisle, Whitehaven, Cockermouth, Penrith and Maryport.
With over two years of hands-on experience, the approach has stayed the same throughout: take the time to understand what the client actually wants, be straight about what is achievable, and never rush pigment into a scalp to save an hour.

Softly broken at the front, denser through the mid-scalp, and blended into the crown so there is no hard line anywhere. The finished result is a defined, natural buzz cut, not a drawn-on outline.
Scalp micropigmentation does not grow hair; it replicates the look of closely shaved follicles so a receding hairline or thinning crown reads as a full, deliberate buzz cut in daylight, in photographs and in the gym mirror. Scar tissue takes pigment differently to healthy scalp, so this work is done slowly and in light passes: matching tone and dot pattern to the surrounding hair until the scar stops catching the eye. Ideal for hair transplant donor scars, old injuries and surgical scars that show through short hair.

How many sessions will I need?
A full SMP treatment is built over multiple sessions so density and depth can be layered gradually. Your exact plan is agreed at your free consultation, and a free touch-up is included within 8 weeks of your final session.
Will it work with my skin tone and hair loss type?
Yes. SMP is suitable for all skin tones and treats all types of hair loss: pattern baldness, general thinning, alopecia, scarring and hair transplant scars.
Can you remove an old SMP treatment or a tattoo?
Yes. Brett is fully qualified in Pico laser tattoo removal (Pico and YAG) and can treat both body tattoos and previous scalp micropigmentation work carried out elsewhere.
