About the clinic
Cumbria's dedicatedscalp micropigmentationand tattoo removal clinic
Cumbria Scalp Clinic Ltd was set up so people in west Cumbria no longer have to drive to Manchester, Newcastle or Glasgow for proper scalp work. One trained practitioner, one treatment room in Workington, and results you can look at before you commit to anything.
Our story
Meet Brett McMullen, founder
& sole practitioner
Brett McMullen started Cumbria Scalp Clinic after seeing first-hand what losing your hair does to a person's confidence, and what getting the look of it back does in the other direction. He trained at the Northwest Scalp Clinic in Bolton, one of the more respected training clinics in the north of England, and came home to open Cumbria's own dedicated scalp micropigmentation studio.
The clinic is deliberately small. Brett is the sole practitioner, which means the person who maps your hairline at the consultation is the same person holding the machine at every session and the same person you ring if you have a question three months later. Nothing is subcontracted and nobody is rushed through to fit another booking in.
With over two years of hands-on experience, and clients travelling in from Workington, Whitehaven, Maryport, Cockermouth, Carlisle, Penrith, Keswick and Wigton, the approach has never changed: take the time to understand what the client actually wants, be straight about what is achievable, and never rush pigment into a scalp to save an hour.
Alongside scalp micropigmentation, the clinic offers Pico laser tattoo removal and vitamin injections from the same Workington treatment room: the same unhurried consultation, the same single pair of hands.

Before & after
Hairline & crown restoration
The front line is drawn by hand and agreed with the client before any pigment goes in, then softened at the temples so it suits the face and the age of the person wearing it. Density is layered across sessions and blended through the crown, so nothing looks stamped on or drawn.
This is a client treated at the Workington clinic by Brett, no stock photography, no retouching, no borrowed results. Scalp micropigmentation does not grow hair; it replicates the appearance of closely shaved follicles so a receding hairline or a thinning crown reads as a full, intentional buzz cut.
About scalp micropigmentation
Before & after
SMP on a scar
Scar tissue holds pigment differently to healthy scalp, so scar camouflage is built up in light passes over more than one visit: matching tone and dot pattern to the hair around it until the scar simply stops drawing the eye through short hair.
Results vary with skin type, the degree of hair loss and how closely aftercare is followed. That is exactly why every treatment begins with a free, no-obligation consultation instead of a deposit: see more of the clinic's work on the Our Work page.

How we work
Three things that never change
One practitioner, start to finish
Brett designs your hairline, applies every pigment pass and handles your touch-ups. Your work is never passed to a junior or a stand-in.
Formally trained
Trained at the Northwest Scalp Clinic in Bolton, then two years and counting of hands-on clinical work on real Cumbrian scalps.
Honest before you book
If scalp micropigmentation is not right for your scalp, you will be told so at the free consultation rather than sold a package.
